History

The Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR, formerly known as Pendidikan Tinggi Farmasi, was established on 17 August 1963 based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Science No.96/1963 (15 August 1963), which transformed transformed into the Faculty of Pharmacy in 1965. Currently, the faculty has six programs, namely the Bachelor in Pharmacy, Apothecary Professional Programme, Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Master of Clinical Pharmacy, Specialized Programme, and Doctoral Programme in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

In addition, the faculty also hosts five departments, namely Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutics, Community Pharmacy, and Clinical Pharmacy based on Rector's Decree no. 9936/JO3/HK/2007, 22 October 2007. Departments are structural units for scientific and human resources development and the faculty’s performance portfolio management. In accordance with UNAIR’s status ammendment into PTN-BH, starting in 2008, departments has also authorized annual programme planning and implementation. In addition, departments must be able to set budgeting based on development programme according to facilities, resources, and sustainable development projections. The Rector's Decree No. 9626/UN3/KR/2013 changed the legal status of the Apothecary Education Programme which is an integrated programme of Bachelor of Pharmacy and Apothecary Professional Programme.

The Apothecary Education Programme in the Faculty of Pharmacy, which was first established in 1963, is an integrated programme of Bachelor of Pharmacy and Apothecary Professional Programme. The Apothecary Education Programme is  based on the philosophy of Basics, Functions and Objectives of the National Education System, which purposes are to develop ability, build character and dignified nation civilization in order to educate the life of the public, aims to develop the potential of students to be dignified, noble, healthy, knowledgeable, skilled, creative, independent, democratic, and responsible citizens. To strive for its purpose, the Apothecary Education Programme had set curriculum and maintains the great achievements that have been accomplished from bachelor of pharmacy and apothecary professional programme. For almost 51 years, we have trained and educated more than 1190 pharmacists. Many of them have become leading professors, lecturers, and, researchers in Indonesia. A few of them have also established international career and become experts in their fields.
