Students from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University (FF UNAIR) have once again demonstrated their presence on the international stage. Through the Industrial Skills Event (ISE) competition organized by the International Pharmaceutical Students Federation (IPSF), the FF UNAIR student team succeeded in showing off and becoming 1st place in this prestigious event.

This extraordinary team consists of Gerry Yahya Suryanto, Kirana Sekar Laras, Tania Permata Putri, and Alika Sabrina Mahalaksmi. They are undergraduate students from the class of 2020. They were very happy to know that they were the winners when the winners were announced on May 4 2024.

They managed to beat more than 30 teams from countries throughout Asia Pacific. In this competition, the issue raised was the trend of using GLP-1 RA drugs for weight management therapy. Then the entire team must provide solutions on how to effectively market the drug.

“We prepared a proposal to propose GLP-1 RA as a therapy for weight management. "Our focus is on treating overweight in Indonesia, but unfortunately not all GLP-1 RA drugs are approved by BPOM," explained Kirana.

At that time, there were a total of 39 proposals, the FF UNAIR team then succeeded in entering the top 5 and were able to continue to the presentation stage which they did online.

They admitted that their participation in this competition was a very valuable experience. How could it not be, through this event they can gain a lot of new knowledge related to the pharmaceutical sector in various countries.
